1960s pool remodel

This pool dated to 1960, but its shell was in good condition and the shape was nice. However, the plaster, plumbing, deck, and stonework were failing. The homeowner wanted the look of the Florida pools she grew up with. We also added a new spa and steps inside the existing shell. The pool deck was completely redone to go with the modern theme. Heat-tolerant perennials like autumn sage, Jerusalem sage and Blackfoot daisy grow between the terraces, where the sun and reflected heat are fierce. Tree-form vitexes shade the dining terrace, while framing views across the pool to the lawn.
